A headset allows you to use both of your hands for typing or shuffling papers while you're on the phone, and provides better voice quality than a speakerphone.

EncoreCX digital phones have convenient headset jacks that allow you to easily connect a headset without needing a separate switchbox. This saves desk space, and about $100. (Wireless headsets do require a separate switchbox, which also serves as a radio transmitter-receiver.)
